On Thursday the 14th October Advantage Business Travel hosted an event at the oh-so exclusive Ivy Restaurant in London.
A select 50 Executive PA Magazine readers joined us for an indulgent dinner with the quality service one would imagine of such a famous celeb hotspot. Once we had all taken in our surroundings and finished gossiping about who was downstairs in the main bar and who was outside signing autographs, we finished up our wine and took to our seats, raring to get sampling the food.
And so to the most anticipated part of the evening: The Ivy is known for its down-toearth yet outstanding food and our evening was no exception. The menu opened with a courgette, fennel and prawn salad and for the main course we were treated to a delicious beef wellington with all the trimmings. Dessert was a passion fruit panna cotta topped off with teas, coffees and petits fours – which my table enjoyed so much that we polished off an extra tray!
It was then time to hear a few words from Ken McCleod, who some of our reader may recall presented the Boss of the Year award at our 2010 awards ceremony. Ken explained a bit about Advantage Business Travel and advised that planning travel is not, as the internet would have us believe, all web-based bookings. His message was simple – when it comes to getting the best business travel (and usually the best price) book your business travel by talking to real people.
Along with the Advantage team we were also joined by Etihad’s Stephen Nash, who gave us a brief history of the Abu Dhabi airline. He highlighted its ever-expanding route list and constant focus on luxury and how to properly treat their guests. Stephen’s attendance was made even more welcome thanks to a prize-draw for two tickets to see the Harlequins Rugby team. The evening continued with wine and conversation until at last we had to pull ourselves away and back into the realms of ‘normal people’. It was a fantastic evening hosted by the Advantage Business travel team, Etihad and Executive PA Magazine and one which drew many claims from attendees that it was “the best PA event they’d ever attended”.
