On Thursday 23rd June, readers of Executive PA Magazine were invited to enjoy an exclusive evening at 170 Queen’s Gate to celebrate the first week of British summer time and as per the typical British Summer the rain threatened the evening but stayed away to allow us the opportunity to spend the evening in the garden.
Upon arrival, guests were greeted by the friendly staff and shown through to The Solar Room and given a glass of champagne where guests were able to socialise and enjoy the splendor of the surroundings they found themselves. The private garden added a new dimension and charm to the venue, as it gave a feeling of being anywhere but Central London and somewhere in the countryside. The barbeque that was provided catered for everyone's desired tastes.
Guests were able to socialise together in this relaxed atmosphere, with the events staff being able to talk with everybody and allowing a tour of the venue if required. After speaking to number of the PA's, the comments that were reiterated were that the building was full character and a far cry from modern and swanky conferencing facilities that are which are boring and bland . The evening allowed the venue, 170 Queen's Gate, to shine and show off its full potential which is steeped in historical grandeur.
170 Queen's Gate
Part of Imperial College London, 170 Queen’s Gate is a grade II-listed Victorian town house. Located in South Kensington, the cultural heartland of London, 170 Queen’s Gate is the ultimate testament to its surroundings. Designed by Norman Shaw and completed in 1889, the house was commissioned by Frederick Anthony White, a wealthy cement manufacturer with an interest in art and architecture. The building is now home to the Rector of Imperial College London.
It provides a private, beautiful and elegant setting for many events and meetings including private dinners, business breakfasts and lunches, meetings, conferences, seminars and even weddings. 170 Queen’s Gate is minutes from Hyde Park; the Royal Albert Hall; the Natural History, Science and Victoria & Albert Museums as well as Harrods and High Street Kensington. The four spaces at 170 Queen’s Gate can be hired individually or as the full ground floor for those larger or more special events. Each space has its own unique features and character but all will impress your delegates or guests. The largest space, the Council Room with its sparkling chandelier, a richly decorated ceiling and walls bestowed with historic paintings, is a tastefully furnished period-room which is ideal for dinners for up to 60 or receptions for up to 100. The stylish space of the Drawing Room is perfect for meetings or seminars for up to 35 delegates – this simple yet elegant room is a classic space which exudes understated luxury.
The Solar Room is a truly versatile venue which offers the discerning event organiser option after option. Leading out to 170 Queen’s Gate’s private walled Courtyard Garden, the Solar Room enjoys a bright and cheerful character no matter what the weather. The elegant French doors help to bring the outside in, and the two spaces can be used as a complete reception and dinner venue package for up to 100 guests in the warmer months. Ideal for outdoor entertaining and al fresco dining, the picturesque and secluded Courtyard Garden gives 170 Queen’s Gate that extra special outdoor space, which is so rare in central London and so makes it stands out from the crowd.
Complimenting the venue facilities, 170 Queen’s Gate also benefits from its own Venue Manager, chef and house team who are on hand to ensure all details of your event are seen to with care and attention. The property also offers two or three guest rooms for those VIP delegates and there is also a wealth of luxurious hotels in the local vicinity.
