Executive PA Awards 2016 - Prize reviews

Executive PA Media heard from some of last year's winners about the experience they had when they took up their prize.

Executive PA Awards – Up & coming PA of the Year 2016
Shona Fraser – Finsbury Food Group
Prize – 4-night stay to Switzerland

Shona is PA to the site director at the Scotland-based Finsbury group, which manufactures cakes, slices and bites for the likes of Thorntons, Disney, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.

Shona and her other half travelled first class to spend four nights in sumptuous Swiss surroundings. Shona said “We spent two nights in Villa Honegg and two nights in Grande Hotel National. We felt like royalty. The staff couldn’t have done more for us, and as it was my birthday they made the stay extremely special with a gorgeous birthday cake made by the chef. The weather was glorious. We visited Mount Pilatus, which you can sledge down, did a boat tour to Weggis and went up Mount Rigi so that we could go on one of the mountain railways. I’d 100% recommend Lucerne as an amazing holiday destination. It was beautiful, with all of the snow and I would love to go again in the summer. It was the trip of a lifetime, which I’ll treasure forever. For everyone who was involved, I can’t thank you enough. The luxurious trip was a collaboration between Executive PA Media, Crone Corkill and Switzerland Incentive Bureau.”

Executive PA Awards – Outstanding Contribution 2016
Sue Barter – Two Rivers Housing
Prize – 2 night stay at Shangri-La Hotel, with afternoon tea & a £100 gift voucher

After almost 5 decades of commitment and dedication, Sue was nominated by her colleagues for Outstanding Contribution 2016. Shangri-La was the prize destination for Sue and her husband.

Sue said:  “No hotel we stay in now will ever match up to the Shangri-La. We were truly spoiled and couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome – the staff was wonderful. Our room on the 37th floor overlooked HMS Belfast, The City of London and Tower Bridge. The breakfast, afternoon tea and cocktails were fantastic. The memory of our stay will remain with us forever – I’d definitely recommend the hotel for business and incentive.”

Executive PA Awards – Boss of the Year 2016
Sir Mike Stratton, Director of the Sanger Institute
Prize – Team building, Film in a day experience

The Sanger team said “The City Academy team was really helpful and knowledgeable, and put us at ease from the get go. We felt lucky to have been given the opportunity to use the technology and equipment to be able to make a film – none of had ever experienced this before and we learned a lot about filming. It’s so much more than point and shoot! The day was so much fun that we were on such a high at the end of it all.”

Executive PA Awards – PA of the Year, Africa
Chelene
Venter – South African Reserve Bank
Prize – Return flights to London  with a 4-night stay  for two at Intercontinental  Hotel, Park Lane

Chelene said “What an amazing experience, I felt honoured, grateful and extremely proud.  Winning the PA of Africa Award made my African heart rumbled and to top it all, Executive PA Jobs gave me the opportunity to travel abroad for the first time in my life.  I am an extremely nervous flyer, so needless to say, I had to drink some calming medication three days prior to my departure, but it was all worthwhile because London was amazing.  The hospitality of the InterContinental Park Lane Hotel made our stay so memorable, they treated my sister and I like royalty.  And what do you think two girls do when they are far from home, hubby, kids and the boss? – They shop until they drop!  Believe me, we broke the sightseeing record.  In four days we watched the changing of guard, went on the London Eye, visited the London Dungeon, shopped at Selfridge &Co, Harrods and the Hard Rock, went to the Big Ben and Abbey, had a Spa session at the Spa InterContinental the morning before the Awards Ceremony, we visited Madame Tussaud and we ended our trip by visiting all the shops around Piccadilly Circus, Oxford street and Covent Garden.

A huge thank you to everybody who made my trip possible, I will remember it for as long as I live.  I am closing off by leaving all the magnificent PAs in the world with the following quote by Saint Francis of Assisi:”

“Start by doing what’s necessary, then do what’s possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible”.
