Celebrating its third anniversary, the Hays annual PA Conference saw over 200 PAs meet at the Grange Hotel, St Pauls for a day filled with great networking opportunities, a packed conference agenda of guest speakers and the announcement of the Hays High Achieving PA of the Year award.
Taking place on Friday October 19th the Hays Conference was designed to inspire and motivate those in the PA industry. The Hays PA network, set up in November 2009, has proven itself to be extremely proactive in supporting its own members - the strength of the network even helped the company win an Executive PA Magazine Award in 2010. It runs regular 'Lunch and Learn' events, but it's the conference that really sets this network apart from others. The speaker guest list included Karin van Peursen who was awarded Dutch Secretary of the Year 2011 for her career who spoke about life as a PA in The Netherlands. The most popular speaker with the audience was undoubtedly the inspiring Liz Jackson, Managing Director of Great Guns Marketing and who has appeared in Channel 4's The Secret Millionaire.
After lunch and the opportunity to network with fellow PAs things kicked off on a lighter note with Stephanie Davies' seminar on An Introduction To Laughology and a closer look at the relationship between boss and PA with KitKat Entertainment's Kiran Sharma and her PA, Sofia Gold. Before the Hays High Achieving PA of the Year was announced there was just time for the audience to meet four top British PAs: Josephine Green, Adam Fidler, Sean Steel and Emma Akers who talked about their career paths and their top tips for personal assistants.
Finally, Rachel Pease was named as Hays' High Achieving PA of the Year 2012 - these internal awards recognise the hard work and achivements of one Hays' PA. Rachel's boss even made a suprise appearance to present Rachel with her award - though Rachel did confess she had an inkling what might be happening as her boss had asked her to book a train ticket to London for the same day as the Hays Conference!
The 2013 Executive PA Magazine | Hays awards will be opening in January.
