Hands up if you fancy working flexibly? Well if you put your hand up you’re in the minority – according to a new survey.
A YouGov poll for the British Council for Offices has found that the ideal of flexible working is largely a myth – with an overwhelming majority of respondents claiming they do not want to work from home at all. The report found that 79 per cent of people shunned the idea of leaving the office behind as many employees “greatly valued” the social benefits of working in an office with colleagues. When asked to rate the top perks of working in an office environment coming out top was the ability to meet colleagues face to face and interaction with team members (both 79%), followed by access to technology and files and documents (61%) then better computer hardware and software (35%). On the flipside noise was voted as the biggest problem of an office environment – and half of all those questioned said working from home meant few distractions.
