Is a good PA worth their weight in gold? Do you think you’re worth more than your current salary?

The chances are yes - as a whopping 93 per cent of employees say they believe they are being underpaid. But before you forward this link to the boss and go in demanding a pay rise consider that the majority (61 per cent) actually overestimated their worth to their employer. Of course everyone thinks they deserve a little extra but that little extra was put at £5,000 a year by 18 per cent of respondents, and £3,000 a year by 29 per cent of those surveyed. Reabur, who carried out the research, believe it shows that many UK employees are out of touch with what their type of role would typically command. The survey, which asked people what value they would put on their worth to their company, their current annual salary, their job title, qualifications and years of experience, also revealed that:

  • Only four per cent of people said they were happy with their salary
  • Just eight per cent underestimated their worth to a company
  • 54 per cent of those asked said they did not enjoy their job
  • 73 per cent say they like the company they work for
  • 67 per cent claim they have no desire to leave their current role
