What’s your new year’s resolution? Save money, lose the pounds, or perhaps quit your job? According to new research from PricewaterhouseCoopers one in three employees has made it their new year’s resolution to quit their current job.

The poll revealed that too few people have felt appreciated or valued by their employer during the recession, and as a result a third of people would jump at the chance to switch jobs. Even those who said they did feel appreciated at work are tempted to leave, with 23 per cent of workers saying they’d consider leaving their company regardless of how valued they felt.

And in a separate study from the company it revealed that money really does talk when it comes to companies showing their loyalty and appreciation of staff. More workers would value a free MP3 player, digital camera or other technology-orientated gift (80%) over a fast tracked promotion opportunity (67%). Cash bonuses (90%), gift vouchers (89%) and extra annual leave (89%) were also highly valued by employees.
