An online study into Britain’s moral compass has revealed that nearly two thirds of us liberated office stationery for our own personal use, while a third say they have stolen from their employer. Whether it’s a measly envelope or something more valuable, the findings reveal you’re not alone in your actions, plus you could find yourself hauled up in front of the boss for stealing. A company with 200 staff, two-thirds of who help themselves to an envelope a week, could find themselves out of pocket by over 500 envelopes a month, so it’s unlikely they’ll be prepared to turn a blind eye. The results of the study also show a gender divide – with women showing they have stricter morals compared to men. Females are more likely to think of stealing office stationery has dishonest.
