Considering PAs are a female-dominated profession would seeing Virgin Atlantic's latest ad encourage you to pick up the phone and book a flight onboard the airline that declares it's "still red hot"? Though the ad is very firmly tongue in cheek?there have been some murmurings?amongst those who feel selling an airline through how attractive its female?staff is, is just wrong in today's society. So, what do you think? Is the advert demeaning to women (and to men who are steroetyped as drooling over the blond, power-dressed lovelies who'll be serving up their drinks)? Take a look?at the advert for yourself?and let us know what you think via email.

What do our readers think??

"I really think that anyone who gets upset has completely missed the point - it is just a bit of fun.? Things in today's PC society seem to have reached the stage where fun is firmly 'not permitted' in case it offends somebody, somewhere, somehow! It brought back some fond memories of an early 80s childhood, spending my pocket money in Our price records and wanting to be glam when I grew up - that's all - nothing more and nothing less.?Surely fun is something we all need at the moment, when news and ads are full of doom and gloom?" Cathy, London

"It think it is a great advert, you don't realise at first? who it is advertising and the tune is really catchy. It brightens you up when you hear the tune and I don't think its sexist at all. I think well done to Virgin, it bright and cheery and I support Virgin. Its a shame we can't think to look at the positive rather than always looking at the negative." Rosemary, Peterborough?

"I have seen this advert on television.?The crew moving through the airport, leaving all the prospective passengers (male and female) either drooling or weak at the knees.? In fairness, it not only implies its female staff are still red hot, but also its male staff – the problem then becomes that all the pilots are male and the cabin staff female.?Another gender stereotype surely??I don’t know that it would encourage me to book my flights with Virgin, but I would like to meet their stylist if I could achieve the same effect walking through the office!" Janet, London?

"I think people should lighten up - this politically correct thing is getting far too big for it's boots. Enjoy - you only live once!!" Anon

There will always be somebody muttering ‘sexism’ at every opportunity.? The advert, though clearly tongue in cheek, is fantastic! ?Bright, gay (another wonderfully descriptive word we can’t use anymore) and quite frankly, Yes, it would make me choose Virgin over another airline if there was no other noticeable difference in the package.? Why can’t women dress as women any more?? I do.? ?Nor do I have a problem with a man who dares to look at me and smile – good for him – it takes courage these days.? ?It cheers me up and I hope it does the same for him.? There’s a vast difference between someone smiling and someone stalking – let’s keep perspective shall we?? There’s little to smile about at the moment and It’s a sad day when a person can’t appreciate the opposite sex any more.?I could rant on all day on this subject but it’s time I sashayed round the offices again and made everyone smile!?Jo, Northants?

“I actually doubt that they have that many super looking girls, and some of them can’t walk in high heels!” Linda, Milton Keynes

“I'm a female PA but why would I take umbrage at Virgin Atlantic's advert simply because it likes to use a bit of sex to sell a product??Have we all lost our sense of humour??It doesn't offend me.?British women today have more opportunities, access to virtually any career they choose, access to excellent education if they wish to avail themselves of it and can lead truly independent lives if they wish.?Overall, our rights and our freedoms as women have improved immensely over the last century.?There are some niggling inconsistencies it's true but life will never be truly equal no matter how hard we strive to make it so. Some may dislike the advert I suppose and may mutter that it's demeaning, but personally I think the PC brigade has had too much of a stranglehold on almost everything in this country.?If the Virgin Atlantic staff like to dress up in red frocks and flaunt their sexuality to try and sell a ticket then why on earth should I moan about it??Perhaps it's fun, dare I say, at a time when we are in danger of becoming a totally joyless society. Any chance that some of those gorgeous pilots could do it as well, that would definitely clinch it for me!” Trudie?
