We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas but how many of you can actually say you truly took a break from the office - and how many of you nipped into the office over the festive break?

Well if predictions from the Post Office® Travel Services’ Holiday Entitlement Index are true, two in five people had to spend the festive season in the office. And not only did 41 per cent of UK workers spend some of their break at work, but a further one in ten will be missing out on their holiday entitlement as a result. Younger PAs are also more likely to work over the holidays - with 50 per cent of workers aged between 18 and 24 missing out on family festivities due to work commitments.

The research revealed the top five reasons for not taking your full holiday entitlement:

1) Other colleagues have already booked the time off (26 per cent)
2) Would rather roll the days over to next year than take Christmas and New Year off (25 per cent)
3) Too much work to do so unable to take the time off (20 per cent)
4) Unable to take time off because of allocated shifts (15 per cent)
5) Didn’t book anything and missed the chance (5 per cent)
