It turns out we’re not as innocent as we may look as new research reveals one in five jobseekers is not averse to lying to their employers. According to the Powerchex Annual Pre-employment Screening survey 19 per cent of respondents say they have lied during the recruitment process.
The most common lie was over academic grades, followed by previous employment duties and title in order to exaggerate menial jobs. The third most common discrepancy was lying to cover up a reason for leaving a previous job. Desperate times may call for desperate measures but do you really want to end up stuck in a job that you’re not qualified for and feel constantly in over your head?
