British workers rate health benefits as nearly as important as a pension, when it comes to perks of the job according to Bupa. The health insurer says it has seen a sharp rise in the demand for private medical insurance (PMI) alongside a widening gap between medical cover and pensions as the most sought after employee benefit. This news reflects the growing attitude towards taking control of our own health as PMI, health assessments and free gym memberships are all racing up the workplace health wish-list to the top.
