?Only one in four employees is required to wear a suit into the office, but half of people say they'd smarten up if their job was under threat. These new statistics, from The Aziz Corporation, seem to suggest that the suit is on the decline, though many people are still aware of dressing smartly for work. The study also found that over half (51 per cent) of companies allow their staff to adopt smart casual clothing for the office, but expect them to wear a business suit or equivalent for meetings. Casual dressing is still frowned on on the whole though with only 12 per cent of employers allowing their staff the freedom to wear whatever they want to work. Fourty seven per cent of respondents also stated that they would smarten up their act if they felt their job was at risk due to the current financial conditions.
