Early May will see Jet Airways making its very first transpacific flight, following months of negotiations with the Chinese authorities. The airline will be joining United Airlines as the second only carrier with the rights to fly non-stop between Shanghai and San Francisco. With a single daily flight it’s opened up a whole new market for the Indian airline – never before has an Indian carrier crossed the Pacific. The new flights will be offering an appealing alternative to indirect and time consuming routes that are currently offered by Korean Air or Cathay Pacific.
