A further 17 per cent confessed to being annoyed by a poor layout, while 16 per cent admitted that an over-long CV is their pet hate. So how can you avoid any mistakes that may cost you the job of your dreams? Always get someone else to read through your CV when you’re done; keep it precise and to the point, cut out anything that is not relevant to the job if it’s too long; check the continuity – have you used the same font, type size and colour throughout, are all your headings set out identically; and don’t forget to include a well-thought out cover letter too.
