With the predictably poor British weather you may be tempted to call in sick when the sun does shine but be warned – the chances are your boss knows what you’re up to! A survey commissioned by MidlandHR has revealed that UK business leaders believe that half of the lost working days due to sickness are in fact a blatant lie, and that some members of staff still look on their sick leave allowance as a way of boosting their annual holiday entitlement! More than two thirds of those questioned said they felt that people abuse sick leave, but as few companies currently track staff’s absences it’s hard to keep track of the problem.
