One of the first low cost carriers is upping its charges for passengers so while the flight might be cheap the extras are increasing. Ryanair has increased charges for checking in and luggage, meaning that you’re liable to be hit for an extra ?9 per fight, per person. The airline admits its policy is to encourage more people to travel with carry on luggage but it’s bad news for those who can’t squeeze all they need into the 50X40X20cm size restrictions and 10kg weight limitations. Passengers now have to pay ?3 to check in at the airport (previously ?2) and a further ?6 per piece of checked luggage (up from ?5). Passengers who choose to check in their luggage are not able to check in online so there’s no way around the fees. Ryanair spokesperson, Peter Sherrard, commented: "Ryanair remains determined to encourage more and more passengers to travel with carry-on luggage only, which allows them to use our free web check-in, skip airport queues and enjoy our priority-boarding service free of charge.”
