Energy Saving Week took place 22 October to 27 October and there’s never a better place to start saving energy that the workplace – which saves thousands of pounds worth of energy wasted on a regular basis. Carbon Smart, who work with companies to improve their carbon footprints, aims to debunk some of those energy myths so we can all become more environmentally friendly.
1????????? Lights use too little electricity to make much of a difference
Wrong – an average office can reduce their annual lighting bill by a whopping 70 per cent if they use energy efficient alternatives.
2????????? Screen savers save money
Incorrect – In fact it’s the opposite. Your George Clooney screen saver uses as much energy as a full screen of work, and may also require considerable processing energy as well.
3????????? Turning air conditioning thermostats down cools the building quickly
No way – the temperature drops at its normally rate but when it reaches the heating system switch on temperature you’ll have both systems running in tandem.
