Some surprising new figures show that PAs and secretaries come third in the list of the UK’s ‘hidden poor’. While it doesn’t mean that PAs are living below the breadline it does worryingly highlight that many people are at risk of a change of circumstances which can result in a a lowered income. The figures, released by the welfare charity, Elizabeth Finn Care show that 6.2 percent of the people they assist are from a PA or secretarial background – the third largest group of people they assist in times of personal tragedy or interruptions in their careers. These personal assistants and secretarial staff are among the UK’s four million ‘hidden poor’ who don’t fit the traditional stereotype of poverty.
