A menu that is near impossible to choose from!

Kesgrave Hall has a 100 covers restaurant and bar with all-day dining and a terrace offering more space in the summer (if you're luckier with the weather than I tend to be). There is a no booking policy for dining but the food is well worth a wait and the bar a pleasant enough place to do it.

The Head Chef and his Team champion local Suffolk produce and the result is a menu that is difficult if not near impossible to choose from. Delicious starters included New England clam chowder with roast salt cod and a Suffolk artisan produce platter, while the main course featured osso bucco with herbed gnocci; cassoulet of Gressingham duck leg and pan roast halibut hollandaise with leaf spinach and crushed potato. Not forgetting the dessert choice which would be criminal to skip - I can highly recommend the simple, seasonal strawberries and cream and the delicious milk & dark chocolate profiteroles.

The Hall also boasts The Mess, which appropriately enough is a private dining / meeting room for up to 24. It appeared to be the perfect venue for those looking to escape to the country and enjoy some of the best food it has to offer. So much so I've booked a group in and am looking forward to my return.

A menu that is near impossible to choose from!:

Milsoms Hotels and Restaurants has already made an impressive name for itself around Essex and Suffolk with their properties in Dedham (Milsoms and Le Talbooth) and Harwich (The Pier). And now they’ve used that winning formula to open up Kesgrave Hall, north of Ipswich in Suffolk.

The 100-seat restaurant certainly has plenty of theatre with an open-plan kitchen allowing diners to see exactly what goes on in the kitchen, or 'the engine room', as it's referred to on the sign! Head Chef Stuart Oliver, Lee O'Neil Sous Chef and their brigade of chefs champion all that is great about Suffolk produce, plus there is a daily specials board allowing them to make full use of seasonal produce.

Full a la carte from 12 noon right through to 9.30 pm
(10.00 pm Friday and Saturday nights)

Sunday is slightly different though -
From 12 noon - 4.30 pm a two and three course 'Sunday lunch menu' is available; after a short break, the full a la carte menu is available from 5.30 - 9.30 pm
